You all are leaving your Alma Mater now. I have no gift to present you all except a piece of advice.
What I would like to advise is that "Don’t give up your study." Most of the courses you have taken are partly for your certificate. You had no choice but to take them. From now on, you may study on your own. I would advise you to work hard at some special field when you are still young and vigorous. Your youth will be gone that will never come back to you again. When you are old, and when your energy are getting poorer, you will not be able to as you wish to. Even though you have to study in order to make a living, studies will never live up to you. Making a living without studying, you will be shifted out in three or five years. At this time when you hope to make it up, you will say it is too late. Perhaps you will say, "After graduation and going into the society, we will meet with an urgent problem, that is, to make a living. For this we have no time to study. Even though we hope to study, we have no library nor labs, how can we study further?"
I would like to say that all those who wait to have a library will not study further even though they have one and all these who wait to have a lab will not do experiments even though they have one. When you have a firm resolution and determination to solve a problem, you will naturally economize on food and clothing.
As for time, I should say it’s not a problem. You may know that every day he could do only an hour work, not much more than that because Darwin was ill for all his life. You must have read his achievements. Every day you spend an hour in reading 10 useful pages, then you will read more than 3650 pages every year. In 30 years you will have read 110,000 pages.
My fellow students, reading 110,000 pages will make you a scholar. But it will take you an hour to read three kinds of small-sized newspapers and it will take you an hour and a half to play four rounds of Mahjian pieces. I am here to announce my retirement from the game of basketball. It won't be another announcement to baseball or anything to that nature.

I've tried to be the best basketball player that I could be.

Nature is not only the mother of the present generation, but also the mother of the generations to come. How severely our descendents will criticize us if we leave them a barren and lifeless mother? How much more they will appreciate us if we give them a world of harmony to inherit? Let us start respecting and caring for nature from now on. Let us start the campaign of creating a mutually beneficial relationship between people and nature right from this moment. Good evening, everybody. I am ... . Now, I am making a speech about how to improve our English for you. TThere are altogether 10 points.
1、What is language for?
Some people seem to think it’s for practicing grammar rules and learning lists of words——the longer the words are, the better. That’s wrong. Language is for the exchange of ideas, for communication.
2、The way to learn a language is to practice speaking it as often as possible.
3、A great man once said it is necessary to drill as much as possible, and the more you apply it in real situations, the more natural it will become.
4、Learning any language takes a lot of effort. but don't give up.
5、Relax! Be patient and enjoy yourself. Learning foreign languages should be fun.
6、Rome wasn’t built in a day. Work harder and practice more. Your hard work will be rewarded by God one day. God is equal to everyone!
7、Use a dictionary and grammar guide constantly. Keep a small English dictionary with you all the time. When you see a new word, look it up. Think about the word——use it, in your mind, in a sentence.
8、Try to think in English whenever possible. When you see something, think of the English word of it; then think about the word in a sentence.
9、Practice tenses as much as possible. When you learn a new verb, learn its various forms.
10、I would also like to learn more about the culture behind the language. When you understand the cultural background, you can use the language better.
Finally, I wanna give you a sentence that is one of my favorite proverbs. We must accept finite disappointment but we must never lose infinite hope.

It is true that most of us value honesty highly. However, nowadays we often confront confidence crisis such as cheating, overcharging, fake commodities and so on. I think that we should be honest because being honest is not only beneficial to ourselves but also to others and the whole society. The reasons can be listed as follows.Firstly, only honest people can be truly respected by the others and can make more friends over a long period of time.
Secondly, honesty, which is the traditional virtue of the Chinese people, can make our life easier and more harmonious. Thirdly, honesty can make our society more stable. A case in point is that Singapore, a society featuring trustworthiness and integrity, has a comparatively low criminal rate.
Responsbility can be understood in many ways. for the parents , they have had the responsibility for caring for and fostering their children since the birth of their baby.for teachers,both in kindergartens and colleges,they also should be responsible for the study and life of their students,that is to say,teahers are the second parents of children somewhile.
for us,as a friend of others,it is our responsibility to help our friends when they are in trouble or faced with difficulties. each one has the different responsibily based on their roles but we must take it for granted that we are responsible for the society.
Is Money All-powerful?
As we know, most of the material things in our daily life have to be bought with money. But money is not all-powerful. There are many things which money cannot buy, such as time.[!--empirenews.page--]
There are twenty-four hours in a day. Sometimes when we are very happy, we wish that the period of happiness would last longer. But no matter what we do, or how much money we are willing to pay, we cannot make a day last longer than twenty-four hours. On the other hand, when we are unhappy, money cannot make the unhappy time pass away more quickly, nor can it bring us a day without sadness and worries. We may be rich, but our money can't bring back our lost time. As the saying goes, “Time past cannot be called back.”
Here we can say very clearly that money can buy a lot of things, but never time. So money, after all, is not all-powerful.

We have only one earth. But now,the environment becomes worse and worse.
As you know,there's no enough clean water for people. So many of them lose their lives because of water. In a lot of countries, people have to cut trees for living. So there's nothing to keep water from running away. Also we have polluted the land, the river and the air. So we have to face more and more floods and droughts .
It's time that we must do something useful to protect our environment. We can plant trees and take good care of them. We can save the water and ask our parents to do so. We can't throw any litter onto the ground and we should collect them for recycling.
If we take good care of our earth today,it will be more beautiful tomorrow.
